2013, bakery, Chichester, Whipped&Baked

Thirty Four Days

In a nutshell: After several years of deliberating about it, I’m finally taking the plunge and opening a bakery in Chichester. The dream is to have a bakery which sells decadent cakes made with al ingredients, sourced as locally as possible. The perfect time finally came along when a shop premises that has been in our family for over three generations finally became available again. These posts will chronicle our process of getting the shop reading for opening, hopefully in less than forty days.

Today has been brought to me by the letter L. Lack of humour. Lack of sleep. Lack of time. Lack of millions of £££. And lack of me time.

I’ve looked at patisserie counters today (I don’t want one, I’ve decided), a stainless steel food preparation bench with a built in fridge unit which I now am convinced I need and a chilled display unit that I’m sure I’m going to need.

The quote for the flooring came in around 1/3rd more than I have budgeted for so I’m back to shopping around for another quote.

I’ve also been down to the cellar in the bakery, discovering bits of furniture that hasn’t seen daylight for decades. I took a photo of a couple. If you’re squeamish about dust then I suggest you think happy thoughts around now and scroll down fast.

I’m still getting pesky non-existent utility company cold callers on my mobile phone, around 7-10 times a day now.

I don’t like it, people, it’s pissing off my inner Gandhi.

But anyhow, it’s late, I have Dexter to catch up with and I think tonight it’s going to be bloody.
